Cardinals’ defense hitting stride
On the flip side, the Cardinals are playing their best defensive football of the season. They surrendered just 10 points for the second straight contest. Arizona ranks second in the NFL in scoring defense with just 18.7 points allowed per game, trailing only the Baltimore Ravens (17.3).
Head coach Kliff Kingsbury stressed to his team this week the need to create more turnovers. They entered the matchup with just three turnovers in five games played. The Cardinals got their coach’s message and their four forced turnovers—albeit against the turnover-prone Cowboys—were a major step forward for the defense.
Arizona sacked Dalton three times with eight quarterback hits in the win. Harrison Reddick produced a game-best two sacks, giving him a team-high four for the season.
Up next for the Cardinals’ defense is a matchup against the NFL’s top-ranked scoring offense, the Seahawks. Facing up against Russell Wilson, the MVP frontrunner, will be a great challenge for this improved defensive unit.
