2. George Kittle Made A Major Impact
The 49ers did not receive much production from their pass catchers outside of George Kittle. Without his dynamic impact, it’s difficult to envision them pulling off the win as they did.
Nick Mullens completed 18-of-26 (75.0%) pass attempts resulting in 200 yards, one touchdown, and two picks before getting benched. C.J. Beathard then chipped in 14-of-19 (90.0%) passing for 138 yards.
George Kittle accounted for 15 receptions on 15 targets, resulting in 183 yards and one touchdown. More than half the completions and yards Mullens achieved were to Kittle with his lone touchdown being accounted for by the star tight end, too.
It will be important for the 49ers to get Jimmy Garoppolo back into the lineup. Until then, the impact that Kittle can make for San Francisco’s offense can help make Mullens a serviceable quarterback.
