2. Rams Are Vulnerable
When the Rams were one of the NFL’s top teams a few years ago, a critical element to their success was a dynamic defensive impact. Los Angeles had a high powered offense with Todd Gurley as the foundation — playing at an All-Pro level in the backfield.
Now, the Rams need Jared Goff to step up and lead the offense while the defense has too many star players receiving substantial contracts to not be among the NFL’s best. Going down 28-3 at one point is a great representation of failure on both sides.
The defense seemed to provide some life for the offense by forcing a pair of turnovers from the Bills that each led to touchdowns on the other end. However, the Rams’ previous failures to keep Buffalo out of the end-zone shouldn’t be overlooked, particularly when factoring in Buffalo’s perfect red-zone efficiency on five attempts.
Let’s not forget, the Rams’ offense pulled off a go-ahead touchdown and needed a stop to win the game. There was undisciplined pass coverage bailing out the Bills on 4th & 8 with around 25 seconds left — setting up 1st & Goal from the three-yard line for the final score of the game.
