Alex Smith Completes Incredible Comeback

It appeared doubtful that Alex Smith would be able to make his return to NFL action after suffering a gruesome leg injury.

Instead of calling it a career, Smith decided to undergo a lengthy recovery process to be in a position to play in the NFL once again. It took Dwayne Haskins being moved to the third quarterback spot on the depth chart and Kyle Allen being ruled out midway through this game.

As one might expect, Smith’s initial production upon returning to game action after missing all of the 2019 season was a bit rough. He completed just 9-of-17 pass (52.9%) for 37 yards.

Perhaps the best of all was that Smith was sacked six times in this game but kept getting up. That’s a good sign that he can take hits and begin putting more trust in his leg.
