4. Giants’ Offensive Line Needs Work
Last season, the Giants’ offense was plagued by underachieving results from the offensive line. Facing a clear need to emphasis this area, New York clearly did not end up doing enough to achieve sufficient results.
The poor offensive line production for the Giants had a strong impact on the running game — resulting in an absolutely brutal outing for Saquon Barkley. He received 15 carries and produced only 6 yards, meaning he was actually out-rushed by Ben Roethlisberger in this game.
Going up against this Steelers defense is not an easy match up for any unit and struggling results are to be expected. However, The Giants can’t look at it that way if they want to succeed against winning teams.
Before the Giants will return to relevance, they will need to experience legitimate improvement on the offensive line. Until then, the talent of Barkley in the backfield will be held back and the development of Daniel Jones will be made more difficult.
