Emmanuel Sanders
The foundation of the Saints’ passing attack begins with Michael Thomas. While what he brings to the table is undoubtedly highly impressive, New Orleans has needed greater impact from complementary options to be more difficult for defenses to stop.
There is a considerable difference in play-style between Sanders and the Saints’ previous No. 2 receiving option. Last season, Tedd Ginn Jr. primarily was involved in a field stretching role downfield and he struggled with drops in key moments.
By adding Sanders, the Saints will have far more refined and versatile route-running ability as a unit. Teams can’t stop Thomas and pairing him up with Sanders will formulate a duo that can give any defense problems.
With the bulk of the Buccaneers’ emphasis on slowing down Thomas, expect Drew Brees to target Sanders often. If that translates to a big performance then New Orleans will be in prime position to get a win.
