The 2020 NFL season is right around the corner with the Week 1 schedule beginning this week. To open the season, the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs are taking on the Houston Texans. It’s a re-match of a very entertaining Divisional Round playoff game from last season.
In that game, the Texans jumped out to a 24-0 lead over the Chiefs. They then proceeded to allow Patrick Mahomes and company to come back and win the game.
Looking at these two teams, the Chiefs are the obvious favorite on paper. Mahomes still has his high-powered offense around him, although Kansas City also added rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins, and Mecole Hardman are still on the roster and the Chiefs have a very solid all-around defense.
On the other side of things, the Texans decided to trade superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals this offseason. David Johnson is new in the backfield and both Brandin Cooks and Randall Cobb were added at wide receiver. The defense has a ton of questions, but there is some talent there.
All of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at four key X-Factors to keep an eye on this week between the Texans and Chiefs.
