4. David Johnson Has A Huge Breakout Performance
The Texans made a major investment in David Johnson when they decided to trade DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals. As many expected, that hasn’t looked like a fair deal through the initial quarter of the season.
The outing Johnson had in the Texans’ season opener was his best performance of the season— totaling 109 total yards of offense with a touchdown. He’s going to need to contribute above that level to provide some relief to Deshaun Watson.
With a likely emphasis on applying pressure to Watson in pass rushing situations, the primary beneficiary should be Johnson. The Jaguars will let him get the ball out of the backfield with plenty of room to operate in the open field.
Just look at Joe Mixon’s production from Week 4 against Jacksonville. After Johnson’s outing is finished, he will have a stat line that consists of at least 160 all-purpose yards (100 rushing, 60 receiving) with a pair of combined touchdowns.
