2. LB Devin White, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are preparing for life after Tom Brady in 2023. The surefire Hall of Famer opted for retirement, leaving the team in a tough spot. The Buccaneers don’t look like contenders, but there are a lot of veterans on the roster that could help keep the team competitive.
But, that middle ground is not where you want to be; you either want to restart or be contending. Stuck in the middle, Tampa Bay should opt for a restart, which could be kicked off by trading linebacker Devin White.
We have seen the linebacker market boom this offseason with record-setting deals being signed by Roquan Smith and Tremaine Edmunds. Given their salary cap situation and future outlook, the Buccaneers aren’t in a position to shell out that kind of money.
As the Chicago Bears did with Smith, the Buccaneers need to accept the harsh reality of needing to move on. White’s market should be a relatively strong one around the NFL, as he has shown star-level production.
1. RB Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans
Yet another team that would benefit from a rebuild, we have the Tennessee Titans. They have been involved in trade rumors all offseason that have revolved around three of their key veterans; quarterback Ryan Tannehill, running back Derrick Henry and safety Kevin Byard.
Parting ways with Henry would be tough, but it feels like time for the Titans. They are under new management with Ran Carthon taking over the front office and Henry is a prime trade candidate as his value is only going to decrease.
As we’ve seen this offseason, the running back position isn’t highly valued. If the Titans want to receive as strong of a package as possible, making Henry available this offseason is the right move to make.
Acquiring someone of Henry’s caliber would be the cherry on top for a few teams around the NFL looking to make some noise this season.
