4. S Budda Baker, Arizona Cardinals
Earlier in the offseason, star safety Budda Baker requested a trade from the Arizona Cardinals. He is seeking a new contract and wasn’t thrilled about the team’s prospects for the 2023 season as they embark on a rebuild of their own.
With quarterback Kyler Murray potentially missing a chunk of the season as he recovers from an ACL tear, 2023 looks bleak in the desert. With a new regime in place with Monti Ossenfort in the front office and Jonathan Gannon on the sidelines, the time is now to move on from Baker.
A package that includes a first-round pick in return certainly is realistic, as Jamal Adams and Minkah Fitzpatrick each netted at least one in trades. Plenty of teams around the NFL would benefit from adding a player of Baker’s caliber to their secondary. Landing on a more competitive team is something he would certainly like as well.
3. RB Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas Raiders
This offseason has not been nice to running backs. Teams have seemingly collectively agreed that the position shouldn’t be a priority anymore, which has led to an underwhelming market in free agency.
Josh Jacobs was one of three players who received the franchise tag at the position this offseason and seems least likely to have a long-term deal worked out. If the Raiders have no interest in signing him long-term, they can see what kind of package they can receive in return for him.
A Day 2 pick seems like a realistic asking price as Jacobs has proven to be one of the best running backs in the NFL. With an improved dual-threat skill set, he would provide a boost for virtually every offense in the league.
