Matt LaCosse
The tight end position has played a pivotal role in the Patriots’ success during the Tom Brady era with the exception of last season. They had Ben Watson and Matt LaCosse as their primary options at this position and they combined for 43 targets in the regular season.
There has never been a point in Lacosse’s career that he has been relied on as a regular component of his team’s offense. The most targets he’s recorded in a single-season was 37 as a rotation player for the Denver Broncos in 2018.
The Patriots didn’t go out and add a difference-making talent at this spot earlier in the offseason after Watson announced his retirement. As a result, New England will need Lacosse to be prepared to step up considering the circumstances.
