4. The NFC East is an Absolute Mess
The combined record of the teams in the NFC East is 2-9-1. Let’s examine that a bit further.
That first win came in Week 1, when two NFC East teams played one another. Meaning that, unless they tied, one team HAD to win. The second win came a week later, when the Dallas Cowboys needed to come back from a 20-point deficit only to eek out a win against the 0-3 Falcons.
Other than a nearly impossible comeback and a game where the NFC East was given no other choice but to win, this division hasn’t been able to get on the positive side of the win/loss column.
The current leaders in the division, the 1-2 Washington Football Team. Last season’s second-worst team in the NFL. The Cowboys sit behind them with a 1-2 record of their own, followed by the winless Eagles and the 0-3 Giants.
Not that the NFC East were expected to control the playoffs, but a start this disastrous is a far cry from where these teams were supposed to be. Both the Eagles and the Cowboys were seen by many as viable playoff competitors, the Giants were a team on the rebuild, but one that had more than a few exciting young players, and the Football Team, well, they’re actually about where we all expected.
The good news? The NFC East is wide open, and could go to any of the four teams at this point. The bad news? Well, everything else.
