2. The Indianapolis Colts’ Defense Is A Problem
After a blowout loss the previous week, Jets head coach Adam Gase had a powerful statement to make heading into his Week 3 clash against the Colts. He was about to shift the New York offense into “hyperdrive”
What did the ‘Hyperdrive Jets’ do to the Indianapolis defense on Sunday? Not a damn thing. In fact, the Colts’ defense scored more than double what the Jets produced. Two pick-sixes and a safety gave the Indianapolis defense 16 points compared to New York’s seven.
Back in Week 2, the Colts’ defense had a similarly dominant showing, forcing the Vikings’ quarterback into three interceptions and what might have been the worst game of his pro career. It’s a defense that looks talented enough to compete with just about anyone— even if those two great showings came against below-average offenses.
From All-Pro linebacker Darius Leonard to star defensive tackle Deforest Buckner, the defense is more than talented enough to show they’re more than just an aberration. They can be great all year, and maybe even great enough to carry a subpar offense to a playoff appearance.
