Ravens Urged To Trade For Intriguing Jets’ Offensive Weapon

The Baltimore Ravens improved to 4-2 with their win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon, jumping into first place in the AFC North as a result of the victory. Could they now look to pull off a trade with the New York Jets?

However, since the Ravens lost running back J.K. Dobbins to a torn Achilles in Week 1, the club’s rushing attack has not looked quite the same.

Gus Edwards has been getting the bulk of the carries in Dobbins’ absence, but he is averaging just 3.9 yards per carry. Plus, Edwards and No. 2 halfback Justice Hill have combined for only 13 receptions through the first six weeks.

For that reason, Bleacher Report’s NFL staff feels that Baltimore could be in the market for another running back between now and the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline, and it names New York Jets back Michael Carter as a potential solution.

Carter is currently the third-string running back for Jets behind Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook, so his touches have been limited. He has carried the ball just six times for 36 yards this season and has logged nine catches for 44 yards.

However, the 24-year-old showed the ability to be a productive member of the running back rotation in his first couple of seasons, particularly as a pass-catcher out of the backfield.

Carter amassed a total of 77 catches in 2021 and 2022, which could be tempting for a Ravens offense that features a lot of dump passes on short and intermediate routes.

Plus, Carter likely would not be too expensive, as he isn’t getting much playing time in New York anyway, and it’s hard to imagine he has tremendous value.

Bleacher Report projects that he can be had for a Day 3 draft pick, and Baltimore may very well be willing to part with that in exchange for his services.

The Ravens will battle the Detroit Lions next weekend.
