Trubisky Posts Better Numbers Than Deshaun Watson

Ever since the 2017 NFL Draft and the Bears’ selection of Trubisky over Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson, the organization has been mocked and ridiculed, and rightfully so. Trubisky has done nothing to prove his worth over either Watson or Mahomes.

One way to silence the critics a bit is if Trubisky actually puts up better numbers than either of those quarterbacks, obviously. It sounds a little laughable to predict Trubisky having a better year than Watson in 2020, but after some of the head scratching moves by the Houston Texans this offseason (most notably trading away their best offense weapon for practically nothing), Trubisky could potentially put up better numbers if he brings his A game.

Trubisky has some solid weapons around him. Allen Robinson put up career numbers in 2019 despite the inconsistent play from his quarterback. Not to mention Trubisky has two really solid running backs behind him in Tarik Cohen and David Montgomery.

For as good as Watson has been since entering the NFL, his numbers aren’t unattainable, and they’re not much better than Trubisky’s Pro Bowl 2017 campaign. If Watson struggles with his new cast of weapons, Trubisky could quietly have a more productive season in 2020.
