Linebacker Leonard Floyd has been around some very talented players throughout his career in the NFL. Before landing with the Buffalo Bills this offseason, he was part of one of the most dominant defensive fronts in the league with the Los Angeles Rams for the last three seasons.
Leonard Floyd played alongside all-time greats such as defensive tackle Aaron Donald and linebackers Von Miller and Bobby Wagner. Before that with the Chicago Bears, he played alongside Khalil Mack.
But, Leonard Floyd believes that the defensive front he is a part of with the Bills now is the best one. He revealed that opinion with some recent quotes that have been shared by ProFootballTalk.
“This is the best group I’ve been around as far as, I can trust the guys when they’re in the game,” Floyd said. “They know football. I’ve been on teams where you couldn’t really trust the guy behind me, and I had to play like the whole game. Being around these guys, I know with the rotation everybody competes, everybody’s going to eat.”
It isn’t much of a surprise that Leonard Floyd is speaking highly of his new teammates; he isn’t going to talk down about them to prop up old teammates. Part of the reason that he is giving the nod to his current Bills teammates is the depth.
“This is my first time being around a collection of players where we can rotate and everybody is bringing A1 mentality and you can depend on the guys,” Floyd said. “Yeah, this is my first time being around that. My other teams, it was all on me. I didn’t really believe in the player behind me. I like it. It keeps you fresh.”
That kind of depth will certainly be needed given some of the high-powered offenses that the Bills will be competing against during the season. In the AFC East alone they now have to contend with Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets along with Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins.
The AFC is a murderer’s row of explosive offenses, as Leonard Floyd and his teammates will also be chasing down Patrick Mahomes, Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow and Justin Herberts in the regular season. Last season’s MVP runner-up, Jalen Hurts, is also on the schedule.
