Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen currently has 37 combined touchdowns this season, and with three more, he will set an NFL record.
Per Nathaniel Marrero of Bills Central, if Allen scores 40 touchdowns in 2023, he will become the first player in league history to do that in four straight seasons.
Allen has totaled 26 touchdowns through the air and 11 on the ground this year. He has thrown for 3,541 yards while completing 66.3 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 93.2. Plus, he has rushed for 398 yards, averaging five yards per carry.
The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Wyoming, was selected by the Bills with the seventh overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Allen struggled during his rookie campaign, finishing with 10 touchdowns and 12 picks, but the following year, he showed significant improvement, recording 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
The Firebaugh, Ca. native then broke out in 2020, registering 4,544 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 69.2 percent of his throws and tallying a passer rating of 107.2. He added 421 yards and eight scores as a rusher. Allen finished second in MVP voting that season and it remains his best campaign to date.
Allen proceeded to score 42 touchdowns in both 2021 and 2022. He finished third in MVP voting last year.
The two-time Pro Bowler has actually been rather inconsistent as a whole this season and has experienced some difficulty taking care of the football. As a matter of fact, Week 15 represented the first time since Oct. 1 that he did not throw an interception. Over the last five games, Allen has completed under 60 percent of his passes three times.
Josh Allen and the Bills are 8-6 and will head on the road to take on the Los Angeles Chargers this Saturday. They are fighting for their playoff lives.
