Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis left his team’s win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday night due to a knee injury, but the Bills have received some positive news on that front.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL media, Davis suffered a PCL sprain that is not considered major. Rapoport adds that Davis’ status for Buffalo’s Wild Card Round matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers next weekend is to be determined.
The fact that Davis has not been ruled out is great news for the Bills.
On the season overall, Davis hauled in 45 receptions for 746 yards and seven touchdowns. It was a weird year for Davis, who went without a catch in five of his last nine games, but he also put together some outstanding performance during that span.
The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Central Florida, was selected by Buffalo in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
He played in every game during his rookie campaign, catching 35 passes for 599 yards and seven scores. He then posted nearly identical numbers in his sophomore season, snaring 35 balls for 549 yards while reaching the end zone six times.
Davis proceeded to enjoy his best year to date in 2022, when he registered 48 catches for 836 yards and seven touchdowns.
Gabe Davis is one of the better big-play receivers in the league, so it would certainly hurt the Bills if he were unable to play against the Steelers.
Buffalo captured its fourth straight AFC East division title with its victory over the Dolphins. It ended its season by reeling off five straight wins after getting off to a rather rough 6-6 start.
