As the Carolina Panthers prepare for the upcoming 2023 NFL season, a ton of hype has been building about rookie quarterback Bryce Young. After his preseason debut, there is even more hype coming. In order for him to have a successful rookie season, he will need his weapons to step up and provide him with a lot of support.
Unfortunately for the Panthers, that wide receiver corps may have taken a hit in practice on Monday.
According to a report form ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. was carted off the field. No further update has been given, but this is a very disappointing situation, to say the very least.
Marshall has been projected to take a huge step forward this season. He has shown flashes of big-time potential, but has yet to put everything together. This was the year that he was expected to do so.
During the 2022 NFL season with the Panthers, Marshall ended up catching 28 passes for 490 yards and a touchdown.
Those numbers show a bit of the potential that Marshall possesses. He put those numbers up with quarterback play that was less than ideal. With a playmaker like Young under center, he was expected to put up much bigger production for the Panthers.
Hopefully, this injury is nothing serious and he will be back on the field in no time. In the worst case scenario, the Panthers may need to go out and find another weapon for Young. Only time will tell, but we will have the latest updates on Terrace Marshall Jr. as they become available.
