Chicago Bears Defender Fires Off Massive Warning To Packers

The Chicago Bears are viewed as one of the top up and coming teams in the NFL heading into 2024, but they have a pretty major obstacle in their way: the Green Bay Packers.

The Bears play in the NFC North, which houses both the Packers and the Detroit Lions. Those are two of the toughest clubs in the conference, and Chicago will have to find a way to beat them.

But Bears edge rusher Montez Sweat is particularly focused on taking down Green Bay, which is Chicago’s biggest rival.

He made that clear during a recent appearance on The Green Light podcast with Chris Long.

“I’m not losing to Green Bay this year. I can’t do it. I can’t do it, man,” said Sweat (via Jackson Stone of ClutchPoints).

The Bears were swept by the Packers this past year. Sweat was only present for one of those meetings, as Chicago acquired him from the Washington Commanders at the trade deadline in late October.

In nine games with the Bears in 2023, Sweat registered 25 tackles, six sacks and a forced fumble. In 17 contests between Chicago and the Commanders overall, he racked up 57 tackles, 12.5 sacks and three forced fumbles in what has been his best season to date. He earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl for his efforts.

Sweat, who played his collegiate football at Mississippi State, was selected by Washington with the 26th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft.

The 27-year-old was consistently solid over his first four seasons, although he never logged double-digit sacks during that span, topping out at nine sacks in 2020.

It seems safe to say that 2023 represented a breakout year for Sweat, and he seems prepared for even bigger things next season.
