The Chicago Bears may be just 1-5, but that doesn’t mean that they’re ready to give up on the season. Perhaps making a move or two to add more talent could help them right the ship. A move with the Las Vegas Raiders could be an intriguing option.
The Bears picked up their only win of the season against the Washington Commanders by a score of 40-20. Justin Fields has gone down with a thumb injury, which has put a damper on hopes of a turnaround even more. However, that doesn’t mean Ryan Poles and company are going to give up.
With that in mind, the Bears could consider adding talent that would help them both this season and in the future.
How about Raiders wide receiver Hunter Renfrow?
Bleacher Report’s Joe Tansey feels that Renfrow would be a solid target for the Bears, and the idea certainly makes sense.
Renfrow has been a forgotten man in the Raiders’ offense, as he has logged just six catches for 59 yards this season. However, back in 2021, he hauled in 103 receptions for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns, so he has shown the ability to be a capable wide out in the past.
Chicago could send a 2024 third-round draft pick to Vegas in exchange for Renfrow, who is under contract through next season. This would provide Fields with a very sure-handed receiver to rely on in short and intermediate routes. As for the Raiders, they haven’t really been utilizing Renfrow anyway, so recouping a third-round pick for him would be a significant boon.
Renfrow isn’t elite by any stretch of the imagination, but he would definitely improve a Bears pass-catching corps that already includes receiver DJ Moore and tight end Cole Kmet.
While the future of this season doesn’t look exceptionally bright, it may be time for Chicago to start investing in receivers rather than wondering who its next quarterback is going to be.
