Could the Buffalo Bills actually trade star wide receiver Stefon Diggs?
While it doesn’t seem likely at the moment, we do know that Diggs was not entirely happy with his role at the end of last season, and rumors swirled over the summer about Diggs potentially wanting out of Buffalo.
Diggs has since assured Bills fans that he has every intention of remaining with the club and even said he wants to spend the remainder of his career in Buffalo, but if things go south between Diggs and the organization, teams will be lining up to inquire about his services ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline.
One such club that makes plenty of sense could be the Chicago Bears.
While the Bears already have a fine wide out in DJ Moore, they could certainly use another playmaker for young quarterback Justin Fields, and Diggs could absolutely fill that role if he becomes available.
Chicago could send a 2024 first-round draft pick and a third-rounder to Buffalo in exchange for Diggs in a package that would satisfy both squads.
Again, the chances of the Bills—who are aiming to win a Super Bowl this year—trading Diggs midseason seem rather slim, especially considering that he is not scheduled to become a free agent until 2028. However, stranger things have happened in this league.
Through two games this season, Diggs has logged 17 catches for 168 yards and a touchdown. He initially came over to Buffalo in a March 2020 trade with the Minnesota Vikings.
Diggs made the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons with the Bills, also earning himself a First-Team All-Pro selection in 2020 after leading the NFL in both receptions (127) and receiving yards (1,535).
Imagine a duo of Moore and Stefon Diggs in the Windy City? It would certainly make life much easier for Fields, who has struggled mightily over the course of his first three NFL seasons.
