Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper is questionable for his team’s Thursday night matchup with the New York Jets due to a heel injury, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

This is obviously significant news for the Browns, as Cooper is a crucial part of the club’s offense and is coming off of a monster performance in which he logged 11 catches for 265 yards and a couple of touchdowns in a Week 16 win over the Houston Texans.

On the season overall, Cooper has hauled in 72 receptions for a career-high 1,250 yards. He has also added five touchdowns.

Cooper, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was originally selected by the Oakland Raiders with the fourth overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He spent the first three-and-a-half years of his career with the Raiders, earning trips to the Pro Bowl in each of his first two seasons. He caught 72 passes for 1,070 yards and six scores during his rookie campaign and followed that up by snaring 83 balls for 1,153 yards and five scores in his second year.

Midway through Cooper’s fourth season, the Raiders traded him to the Dallas Cowboys. In 15 games between both clubs that year, he registered 75 grabs for 1,005 yards and seven touchdowns en route to his third Pro Bowl appearance.

Cooper spent three-and-a-half seasons with the Cowboys, making another trip to the Pro Bowl in 2019 after finishing with 79 catches for 1,189 yards and eight scores.

He was then traded to the Browns in March 2022.

During his first season in Cleveland, he was impressive, totaling 78 receptions for 1,160 yards while punching in nine touchdowns.

Amari Cooper and the Browns are 10-5 and can clinch a playoff spot with a win over the Jets. After facing New York, Cleveland will head on the road to take on the Cincinnati Bengals.
