The New York Jets have had a solid NFL offseason thus far, but they likely aren’t done trying to add talent. Even with the 2024 NFL Draft right around the corner, there are still some avenues the Jets could explore in NFL free agency. Adding another weapon for Aaron Rodgers is likely towards the top of the priority list.
Granted, the Jets have already added veteran wideout Mike Williams via free agency. However, there is another target that could make perfect sense.
Former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling is currently a free agency. In a recent quote shared by Zach Gelb of CBS Sports, Valdes-Scantling shared that he has talked with Rodgers. A reunion could very well be in the cards.
Valdes-Scantling was part of the Green Bay Packers’ prolific offense just a few short years back. He was a favorite target for Rodgers, although drops were always an issue with him. Those drop issues continued in Kansas City.
During the 2023 NFL season with the Chiefs, Valdes-Scantling ended up catching 21 passes for 315 yards and a touchdown. The numbers aren’t great, but he could benefit from reuniting with his old quarterback.
As for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets, they’re looking to get back to winning. After playing just four snaps in his inaugural season with the Jets that ended with a torn Achilles, Rodgers is ready to get back to work. He’s ready to prove that he’s still one of the elite superstars in the NFL.
All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what the Jets end up doing throughout the remainder of the offseason. They may not have any interest in Valdes-Scantling, but the move would make sense.
