One of the positions that the Cleveland Browns needed to upgrade this offseason was wide receiver. They were seeking some established help behind Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore and found some in the form of a former first-round pick.
The Denver Broncos traded Jerry Jeudy, the No. 15 selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, to the Browns in exchange for two draft picks; a fifth- and sixth-rounder in 2024. Many are considering that a steal for Cleveland as it wasn’t long ago the Broncos were seeking a first-round pick in exchange for the Alabama product.
Heading into the final year of his rookie contract, the fifth-year option, it makes sense that Denver moved Jeudy. If he wasn’t going to be part of their long-term plans, acquiring some draft compensation in exchange for him now instead of watching him depart in free agency for nothing in return is the right move to make.
The Browns have ensured that Jeudy won’t be going anywhere anytime soon as well. According to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, he and his new team have agreed to a three-year, $58 million extension. $41 million is fully guaranteed for Jeudy.

That is a monster extension for Jeudy, who is the latest wide receiver to cash in on the booming market. In four seasons with the Broncos, he has shown some signs of being a No. 1 receiver but hasn’t been able to put it together consistently.
A big reason for that has been inconsistent play at the quarterback position. Jeudy has also battled injuries at points in his career, but he has appeared in at least 15 games in three out of four seasons.
In 57 games, he has caught 211 passes for 3,053 yards and 11 touchdowns. He will provide Browns starting quarterback Deshaun Watson with another reliable weapon in the passing game and a potential long-term replacement for Cooper, who will turn 30 years old in June and has only two void years left on his contract.
