Browns Urged To Pursue Intriguing Wide Receiver In Free Agency

The Cleveland Browns could probably use another weapon in their aerial attack, and Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine sees a potential target for them this offseason: Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marquise Brown.

Brown is slated to hit free agency this March and will be one of the better wide outs available on the open market.

It should be noted that Brown is coming off of a rather disappointing season, as he logged just 51 catches for 574 yards and four touchdowns in 14 games, but that was mainly due to injuries and a rather unstable quarterback situation in Arizona.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Oklahoma, was originally selected by the Baltimore Ravens with the 25th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft.

He enjoyed a decent rookie campaign, catching 46 passes for 584 yards and seven scores. The following year, Brown showed some progression, snaring 58 balls for 769 yards while reaching the end zone eight times. He then proceeded to break out in 2021, hauling in 91 receptions for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns.

Due to dissatisfaction with his role, Brown asked to be dealt that ensuing offseason, and the Ravens obliged by trading him to the Cardinals.

Brown’s time in Arizona was underwhelming, to say the least. In his debut campaign with the club, he played in just 12 contests and registered 67 grabs for 709 yards and three scores.

All of that being said, in the right situation, Brown could flourish due to his blazing speed.

Of course, the Browns need to get their salary cap situation figured out first, as they are currently over the cap heading into the offseason.

Cleveland went 11-6 and fell in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs this year.
