Chris Ballard and the Indianapolis Colts will have quite a few directions to choose from in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft. They could look to beef up their offense around new starting quarterback Carson Wentz or they could focus on their defense. If they choose to go focus on their defense, Georgia edge rusher Azeez Ojulari could be a name to keep a close eye on.

Ojulari is a physical beast that would be a good fit for the Colts’ defense. He would provide a more physical pass-rushing option and could give the franchise a new star on the defensive side of the football very quickly in his career.

An NFL scout who spoke to NFL Analysis Network stated that the Colts will likely strongly consider taking Ojulari at No. 21 overall in the upcoming NFL Draft.

“For the Colts, I think they’ll end up going defense in the first-round. A name I really like for them is Georgia’s Azeez Ojulari and I think they do have interest in him. He’s strong, athletic, and would give Indy a good long-term option on the edge to build around.”

Speaking of Azeez Ojulari being a big and strong athletic presence, he stands in at 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds. He will be an intimidating presence on the defense edge. In addition to his size, Ojulari is quick and can get around the edge or go through the middle of an offensive lineman.

During his three-year career with the Bulldogs in college, Ojulari racked up 67 total tackles, 11 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two defended passes. He only played a big role in two of those three years. Ojulari’s numbers may not pop off the stat sheet, but they are solid and he has a very bright future ahead of him.

It will be interesting to see what the Colts end up doing in the NFL Draft. They have had a relatively quiet offseason outside of trading fro Wentz. Ballard was expected to be much more aggressive, but Indianapolis is playing it safe and is focusing on making sure that they can bring all of their in-house talent back both now and in the future.

Indianapolis is a piece or two away from Super Bowl contention. They made a solid run in 2020. A player like Ojulari could help take their defense to the next level.

Expect to see Azeez Ojulari receive some consideration from the Colts. If they end up taking him, they aren’t going to be disappointed.
