Tony Pollard Will Have 1,000 Yards from Scrimmage
The theme of the running game has been to feed Zeke since 2016. Last year the Cowboys added some insurance when they drafted running back Tony Pollard. As Ezekiel Elliott’s backup, Pollard was able to run for 455 yards and scored twice. He caught 15 balls for over 100 yards as well.
The Cowboys retained offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and he has more in store to save Elliott’s body in 2020. Elliott has gone on record to say he’d take less touches if it meant the Cowboys were more successful.
Pollard adds quick feet and bursts of speed in the Cowboys backfield and with the team in search of someone to fill a fourth wide receiver role, look for Pollard to be on the field at the same time as Elliott this year.
No disrespect to wide receiver Noah Brown who has been turning heads in training camp, but Pollard’s route-running ability has shown growth and the Cowboys fully expect to take advantage of this.
