This Cowboys-Broncos Trade Sends Jerry Jeudy To Dallas

Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was one of the only bright spots for the Denver Broncos offense during the 2022 season. Denver had very high expectations coming into the season but face planted as Nathaniel Hackett was in over his head as head coach and Russell Wilson had the worst season of his professional career.

Despite that combination, Jerry Jeudy still found a good amount of success in his third season in the NFL. Despite missing two games, he set career highs across the board with 67 receptions for 972 yards and six touchdowns.

The first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Alabama showed that he has the makings of being a No. 1 wide receiver. With a full route tree and elite route running, Jerry Jeudy has all of the makings of a go-to pass catcher.

Despite that level of success, there is a chance that Jerry Jeudy is traded this offseason. His name was mentioned often ahead of the trade deadline, but no deal was made. Now that more teams could be in the market for a wide receiver, we could see trade talks heat up once again.

One team that will be in the market for a pass catcher is the Dallas Cowboys. They are assuredly regretting the decision to move on from Amari Cooper last offseason, as he was traded to the Cleveland Browns in what was described as a salary cap casualty. But, his presence was sorely missed.

CeeDee Lamb showed he was more than capable of handling the No. 1 role but there wasn’t much behind him. Michael Gallup was working his way back from a torn ACL and James Washington, who was signed in free agency, was hurt in training camp.

This offense could use a little more juice in the passing game, especially with tight end Dalton Schultz heading to free agency, and Jerry Jeudy can fill that void. What could it cost the Cowboys to acquire him?

Dallas has nearly their full allotment of draft picks and with championship aspirations, they should be willing to wheel and deal. A second and fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and a third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft would certainly be a strong offer for the Cowboys to make.

Jerry Jeudy would slot into their lineup as a strong complement to Lamb, providing insurance beyond Gallup. The Broncos would recoup some of the draft capital that they have used in the last year to acquire Wilson and head coach Sean Payton.
