Pittsburgh Steelers Trade Up For Offensive Piece In Bold Proposal

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in need of some help along their offensive line, and ESPN’s Jordan Reid feels they might trade up in the NFL Draft in order to acquire it.

In his most recent mock draft, Reid projected the Steelers to make a trade with the Seattle Seahawks to land the 16th overall pick in the draft. Reid then thinks Pittsburgh will use that selection in order to take University of Alabama tackle JC Latham.

Reid notes that the Steelers made a similar move last year, trading up three spots to take tackle Broderick Jones. Perhaps history will repeat itself.

Pittsburgh currently owns the 20th pick in the first round.

The Steelers have several needs entering the draft. They need a wide receiver to add some depth behind George Pickens, as they traded Diontae Johnson last month. They also need some help defensively.

But Pittsburgh may end up prioritizing its offensive line.

The Steelers revamped their quarterback room this offseason, parting ways with all three of Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph and Mitchell Trubisky and adding Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.

Obviously, fixing the offense will be the prime concern for Pittsburgh in the NFL Draft, and it may also end up making a trade for a receiver at some point. Recently, the Steelers were mentioned to be interested in San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk.

Pittsburgh finished 25th in the league in yardage and 28th in scoring this past year, so, clearly, the offense needs some work.

We’ll see how the Steelers approach things when the draft kicks off this Thursday.
