Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys have been streaking lately. They won their fourth straight game last week when they downed the Seattle Seahawks 41-35, and with a 9-3 record, they’re suddenly in the hunt for the top seed in the NFC, which would give them home-field advantage until the Super Bowl.
Quarterback Dak Prescott completed 29 of 41 pass attempts for 299 yards and three touchdowns, and he rallied his team from a 35-27 deficit early in the fourth quarter, something that will help answer the critics who say he isn’t good under pressure.
It was the sixth straight game in which he had played good or great football, and that stretch has placed him in the MVP conversation.
Before the game against Seattle, Prescott made an interesting comment where he downplayed his recent success.

He later implied that the only thing that matters to him and his team at this point is winning the Super Bowl.
“No, I mean, it means I’m playing well. Simple as that. Not really,” Prescott said, via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. “I’m about one goal, and it’s a big team goal, and I know if my name’s in there that means we’re playing well. So, that’s great. But at the end of the day, we’re just trying to build. I mean being eight years into this thing, it’s about building and building and making sure we’re getting better and better each and every week and getting hot right when we need to be.”
Prescott’s season stats stack up well against those of almost any NFL signal-caller right now: a 70.1 percent completion rate, 3,234 passing yards and a 108.3 passer rating. In fact, he’s leading the league with 26 touchdown passes and a 75.6 QBR.
Therefore, it is little or no surprise that Dallas came into Monday ranked first in points per game, passing touchdowns and first downs gained. Prescott’s play has helped wide receiver CeeDee Lamb collect 1,182 yards and seven touchdowns through 12 games, while No. 2 wideout Brandin Cooks has raised his game over the last few weeks after a very poor September and October.
The team has a huge game coming up on Sunday evening against the Philadelphia Eagles, who still have the NFL’s best record at 10-2. It will be at home, where it has won 14 games in a row. The Cowboys lost to Philly 28-23 in Week 9 on the road when Prescott failed to come through on their final drive.
Crunch time and big games remain the lone bones of contention remaining for Prescott. But this Sunday, he can continue to do something about that negative narrative.
