Cowboys: What to expect from rookie WR CeeDee Lamb in 2020

The Dallas Cowboys began the NFL offseason with little need for a wide receiver to be a priority. After the departure of Randall Cobb in free agency and a best player available approach in the NFL Draft, the outcome was the selection of CeeDee Lamb out of Oklahoma.

It’s safe to say, not many were expecting the Cowboys to end up with Lamb. There was some thought they’d end up addressing either the edge rusher or cornerback spot, but neither ended up being the case.

The production Lamb provided the Sooners was quite impressive during his junior campaign. He ended up hauling in 62 catches resulting in 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns. This made it an easy choice for a team to take him in the middle of the first round, as the Cowboys did with the No. 17 selection.

There are still storylines surrounding the Cowboys about Dak Prescott and a long-term contract extension, and rightfully so. However, it’s easy to forget a bit about the impressive haul they had in the NFL Draft and how they managed to stay afloat despite losing plenty of key players in free agency.

The Cowboys put together impressive overall results as an offense in 2019, having little issue moving the ball down the field and putting up points. They could reach new heights with Lamb now in the mix adding an additional dynamic element for opposing teams to have to try to slow down.

Taking all of that into consideration, let’s take a look at what to expect from CeeDee Lamb during his first NFL season as a member of the Cowboys.
