What To Expect From CeeDee Lamb In 2020

The expectations that come with being a first round pick are sky high, especially when some may consider the choice to be at a ‘luxury’ position like Lamb for a team in the Cowboys’ position. He should have little issue achieving that.

Early on, Lamb will likely fill the No. 3 receiver role frequently playing out of the slot. He may not receive a high volume of opportunities since there are so many talents to provide with touches. Instead, Lamb will be able to do more with less considering teams can’t take out everybody in an offense.

ESPN recently released their league-wide projections for every offensive player for the upcoming 2020 season, including Lamb. The expectation they have for the rookie receiver is 82 targets resulting in 50 receptions, 660 yards, and five touchdowns.

Those numbers appear to be certainly within a reasonable range for Lamb to achieve during his first season in the NFL in a loaded offense. There could be additional opportunities in the event of injuries

As a team, the Cowboys project as being among the front-runners to win the NFC East with a real chance to surprise in the playoffs. In order for that to come to fruition, Dallas will need Lamb’s help.

A particular area the Cowboys struggled with last season was an inability to defeat winning teams. Partly, that was due to an inconsistent defense, but was exacerbated by an offense that had some underwhelming displays of its own. Having another dynamic receiver like Lamb should help with this issue.

It’s safe to say, CeeDee Lamb will achieve big things in the NFL during his career. It just may take a bit of time before he can put up Pro Bowl caliber numbers, but he undoubtedly has the potential to achieve that type of success consistently as he progresses in his career.
