Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys came crashing back down to reality in Week 3.

After a scintillating 2-0 start that saw the Cowboys outscoring their opponents 70-10 over the first couple of weeks of the season, Dallas fell to the previously winless Arizona Cardinals by a score of 28-16 on Sunday, prompting quarterback Dak Prescott to rip the media afterward.

“Y’all put us on top of the world,” said Prescott, per Grant Gordon of NFL.com. “We knew who we are. In that same sense, I’m sure the media got what it wanted. For us, there hadn’t been but one undefeated team. It sucks, it’s humbling, but to say it’s a wake-up call, we knew we had a lot of adversity and we just didn’t get it done. It just goes back to myself, the offense, in the red zone. We get better there, we win this game. But we’ve got to fix that area, period.”

Prescott was referring to media pundits labeling the Cowboys the best team in the league and Super Bowl favorites after they annihilated both the New York Giants and New York Jets.

The 30-year-old endured his fair share of struggles in the loss to the Cardinals, throwing a critical interception and going 25-for-40 with 249 yards and a touchdown while posting a passer rating of 78.

Prescott has not been great through the first three games, totaling 647 yards, three touchdowns and a pick while completing 67.6 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 90.6.

Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy added that it was a “rough week on all fronts” for the club, as the Cowboys also lost star cornerback Trevon Diggs to a torn ACL in practice on Thursday.

Prescott and Co. will attempt to right the ship when they head back home to host the New England Patriots next Sunday.
