Cowboys Land Jets’ Defensive Star In This Massive Trade Proposal

The Dallas Cowboys‘ defense was one of the NFL’s best this season, but it still had weaknesses, and giving up 48 points to the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round of the playoffs is no joke.

It’s pretty clear that the Cowboys need to improve their roster after yet another disappointing postseason exit, and that include the defensive side of the ball.

That’s why Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine thinks Dallas should try to swing a deal for New York Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley.

Ballentine proposes that the Cowboys send offensive lineman T.J. Bass and a 2024 third-round draft pick to the Jets in exchange for Mosley and a sixth-rounder.

While Dallas has Micah Parsons on the edge, it has a bit of a hole at linebacker, and bringing in a veteran like Mosley would go a long way to shoring things up.

But why would New York trade Mosley?

Well, the Jets have very limited cap space heading into the offseason (about $7.6 million per Spotrac), and moving Mosley would clear $11 million in cap room. This would allow New York to focus on improving in other areas, such as finding more weapons for Aaron Rodgers.

Gang Green is also in need of some offensive line help, so in addition to picking up a third-round selection in this deal, they would also bring in some solid depth in Bass, who showed some promise at guard during his rookie campaign.

Mosley racked up 152 tackles, a half of a sack, an interception, a couple of forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and seven passes defended in 2023.

The 31-year-old is a five-time Pro Bowler.
