The Dallas Cowboys may be eyeing a strategic move akin to the Kansas City Chiefs’ playbook to bolster their chances of clinching a Super Bowl title in 2024.

Reid Hanson of USA Today has compiled a list of premier free agent wide receivers that could potentially elevate the Cowboys’ roster.

Among the notable names spotlighted is Mecole Hardman, the Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver celebrated for his game-winning touchdown catch in the Super Bowl.

While Hanson suggests there might be better-suited options for Dallas, Hardman remains a viable consideration.

“At 5-foot-10, 287-pounds, Hardman is primarily a slot receiver. This is obviously bad news to the Cowboys because Lamb is Dallas’ primary slot guy when in 11 personnel. Still, Hardman is young, fast, and gadget-like making him an intriguing option for any offense wanting to ramp up their creativity.”

Hardman’s journey to Super Bowl heroics was marked by a rollercoaster season that commenced with the New York Jets before he was traded to the Chiefs in October, reuniting him with quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He played under a one-year, $4 million contract during the season.

Fortunately for Dallas, acquiring Hardman in the offseason might not break the bank. However, his standout performance in the Super Bowl could potentially increase his market value. Hardman’s pivotal role in the championship game, culminating in 3 receptions for 57 yards, including the decisive touchdown, has undoubtedly garnered attention.

Despite his impactful display on football’s grandest stage, Hardman saw limited usage following his transfer to Kansas City. He tallied 14 catches for 118 yards across six regular-season games in 2023. His brief stint with the Jets saw minimal production, with just one catch for 6 yards.

While Hardman had surpassed 500 receiving yards in his initial three NFL seasons, his output has notably diminished over the past two years. He would still be an interesting option for the Dallas Cowboys.
