Former Chiefs Player Fires Massive Shot At NFL Legend Tom Brady

Former Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Mitchell Swartz is not thrilled about Tom Brady’s message to young athletes.

Brady recently said that young athletes only think about themselves and their own brands and are focusing too much on their social media presence than their team.

He is far from the only person to feel this way, especially in this new NIL era.

But Schwartz has accused Brady of being a hypocrite.

“Good thing he didn’t start his own clothing/fitness/lifestyle brand and insist on his personal trainer having privileges in the building no one else gets,” Schwartz posted to his X account.

The problem with Schwartz’s argument, however, is that Brady did all of this after establishing himself as one of the best players to ever step on the gridiron.

Brady wasn’t doing all of this while he was at Michigan, and he also did not have this type of cachet in his early playing days with the New England Patriots.

The legendary quarterback seems to be referring more to players who are either in college or just coming out of college.

Now, in defense of the players, this is an entirely different era. There was no Instagram when Brady entered the league. Players weren’t really able to have their own brands like they are now in 2024. It was a very, very different time two-and-a-half decades ago.

There is no question that young athletes today—and young people in general—have more of a sense of entitlement than they did in 2000. Or even in 2010.

But a lot of that blame falls on the advent of the Internet, which has increased the pressure on young people tremendously.

Tom Brady may have a point, but again, times have changed. So have the people with them. Whether or not you like it doesn’t change that fact.
