If there is one thing the Dallas Cowboys lack in their offense, it is an explosive tight end. The Atlanta Falcons may have the solution in Kyle Pitts.
David Kenyon of Bleacher Report suggests that the Falcons could consider moving Pitts ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline, and he mentions the Cowboys among the potential landing spots.
Now, it should be noted that Atlanta really has no reason to trade Pitts at the moment. Pitts still has another year left on his deal, and the Falcons are very much alive in the NFC South race.
However, there is also no denying that Pitts was disappointing last season and has also not been very productive thus far in 2023. Through four games this year, he has logged just 11 catches for 121 yards, and last season, he caught 28 passes for 356 yards and a couple of touchdowns.
All of that comes after a fantastic rookie campaign in which Pitts hauled in 68 receptions for 1,026 yards and a score.
Of course, the caveat is that Pitts suffered an MCL injury in 2022 that required surgery. He was limited to 10 games last season, and he doesn’t quite look 100 percent through the first quarter of 2023.
The question is whether or not the Falcons could get frustrated waiting around for Pitts to regain his 2021 form and ultimately attempt to move him if he continues to struggle.
If Atlanta does consider trading Kyle Pitts, Dallas could offer a package that includes a 2024 second-round draft pick and a fourth-rounder. This would provide the Falcons with some ammunition in continuing their rebuild, and the Cowboys would finally land a tight end with big-play ability.
Dallas is 3-1 on the year and is preparing for a Week 5 showdown with the San Francisco 49ers. Meanwhile, Atlanta is 2-2 and will host the Houston Texans on Sunday.
