Denver Broncos edge rusher Frank Clark will miss his third straight game against the Chicago Bears this Sunday as he recovers from a tear in his groin and abductor, according to Mike Klis of 9 News.
Klis adds that Clark is confident he will play against the New York Jets in Week 5, so at least there is some good news for the Broncos.
Clark initially suffered the injury in practice ahead of Denver’s Week 2 loss to the Washington Commanders.
The Broncos signed Clark to a one-year, $5.5 million deal back in the spring. He played in the club’s season-opening loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, logging two tackles in the defeat.
Clark, who played his collegiate football at the University of Michigan, was originally selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
He saw limited action during his rookie campaign, recording 16 tackles and three sacks. Then, the following year, Clark broke out, registering 47 tackles, 10 sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
The Bakersfield, Ca. native proceeded to spend the first four years of his career with the Seahawks, capping his time there by racking up 41 tackles, 13 sacks, an interception, three forced fumbles and a couple of fumble recoveries in 2018.
Clark then moved on to the Kansas City Chiefs where he made three straight trips to the Pro Bowl. Oddly enough, he wasn’t as productive in Kansas City as he was in Seattle, and yet, he did not make a single Pro Bowl appearance with the Seahawks. His best season with the Chiefs came in 2019, when he amassed 37 tackles and eight sacks and helped the club win a Super Bowl. He spent four years in Kansas City overall before signing with Denver.
The Broncos are 0-3 and are coming off of a 70-20 defeat at the hands of the Miami Dolphins.
