Jerry Jeudy and the Denver Broncos picked up their first win of the season this past weekend, but not without some adversity.
Late in the third quarter, the Broncos trailed the Chicago Bears by a score of 28-7, and it looked all but certain that Denver would be 0-4 by the end of the day.
However, the Broncos rattled off 24 unanswered points for a 31-28 victory.
During the game, former Denver running back Phillip Lindsay took to X to criticize the Broncos’ wide receivers, but afterward, Jeudy responded with a brutal burn.
Lindsay, who played his collegiate football at the University of Colorado, went undrafted but caught on as a free agent with the Broncos in 2018.
He enjoyed a terrific rookie campaign, racking up 1,037 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging a robust 5.4 yards per carry en route to a Pro Bowl appearance. He also added 35 catches for 241 yards and a score.
Lindsay posted similar numbers the following year, rushing for 1,011 yards and seven scores, registering 4.5 yards per attempt. He chipped in 35 receptions for 196 yards, as well.
However, in 2020, Lindsay was limited due to injuries. He played in just 11 games, finishing with 502 yards and a lone rushing touchdown. He recorded 4.3 yards per carry.
Lindsay proceeded to sign with the Houston Texans that ensuing offseason but lasted only 10 games with the club before being released. He was very unproductive during his brief stay in 2021, totaling 130 rushing yards and a score while posting a paltry 2.6 yards per attempt. He then joined the Miami Dolphins four four games that season but was equally unfruitful, rushing for 119 yards with a 3.1-yard-per-carry average.
The 29-year-old had a cup of coffee with the Indianapolis Colts last season, playing in three games and carrying the ball 15 times for 49 yards.
Jerry Jeudy was a teammate of Lindsay’s for one year in 2020.
