DK Metcalf Linked To Dallas Cowboys As Trade Possibility

The Dallas Cowboys are looking to make some noise during the 2022 season. After getting eliminated in the Divisional Round by the San Francisco 49ers last season, they are looking to bounce back and make a run this season.

Part of the reason that Dallas fell short in that postseason game was their inability to get things going on offense. On paper, the Cowboys have one of the best offenses in the NFL led by Dak Prescott under center. However, they could use a little help at wide receiver.

Because of a salary cap crunch, Dallas traded Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns for a late-round pick. Cedrick Wilson Jr., who played well when called upon last season, signed as a free agent with the Miami Dolphins.

One positive of the offseason at the position was that the team re-signed Michael Gallup. However, Gallup will miss a large chunk of the season as he recovers from an ACL tear suffered in Week 17 against the Arizona Cardinals.

That leaves very little to rely on beyond CeeDee Lamb in the early going of the season. Rookie Jalen Torbert and veteran James Washington, who signed a one-year deal in free agency, will fill in behind him.

Some people believe the Cowboys should look for some more help at the position. One of those people is Rich Eisen, who suggested that Dallas pursue a trade for D.K. Metcalf of the Seattle Seahawks.

“Dallas should be on the phone to Seattle right now,” Eisen said. “How huge would DK Metcalf be with a star on the side of his helmet?…I do appreciate his star ability to make himself a figurative star wherever he goes, but the star on the side of that helmet. Thanksgiving days, Monday nights, Sunday nights. DK Metcalf on the Dallas Cowboys is exactly the play that Jerry Jones would make. Exactly the play Jerry Jones is built to make.”

That would be a huge, splashy move by the Cowboys to pair Metcalf with Lamb in their passing attack. Metcalf is a bonafide No. 1 receiver and star in the making, much like Lamb has shown thus far in his career.

It would not be cheap acquiring him, as he is arguably the best player the Seahawks currently have and they want to make him a long-term building block for the franchise. However, it certainly wouldn’t hurt to make a call and gauge the situation if you were Dallas, as they want to contend for a Super Bowl this season.
