Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has proven a lot of doubters wrong with his performance this season. He is having an incredible season as head coach Mike McDaniel has built the perfect offense to highlight the strengths of all of his players.

Tagovailoa is currently leading the NFL in completion percentage at 71 percent and yardage with 3,921. He has thrown 25 touchdowns with 10 interceptions, leading the way for the highest-scoring and most explosive offense in the league,

It should come as no surprise then that Tagovailoa is considered the best player in the NFL in several categories. Matt Bowen of ESPN put together a piece highlighting which player was the best in 101 different traits from around the league.

Not surprisingly, Tagovailoa is considered the most accurate passer in the NFL right now. Bowen wrote, “Tagovailoa has completed 71% of his passes this season, the best in the league, and only 13.2% of his throws have been off target. His ability to deliver the ball with both accuracy and precise location is an ideal fit for Mike McDaniel’s pass game.”

The Dolphins play an up-tempo offense that is based on rhythm and timing. Teams have struggled to knock Miami off course as Tagovailoa is capable of putting the ball wherever it needs to be whenever.

That is the luxury of having two No. 1 wide receivers to target, as Tagovailoa gets to throw to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. It certainly doesn’t hurt having Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane leading the backfield, either.

To make this offense work, Tagovailoa has to get the ball out of his hand early with a lot of anticipation throws. That is why Bowen has selected him as the quarterback with the quickest release in the NFL as well.

“With his quick and compact release, Tua gets the ball out with speed. His average time before pass sits at 2.38 seconds, the fastest in the league,” wrote Bowen.

Tagovailoa is the perfect fit for the offense that McDaniel is running with the Dolphins. He may not have the strongest arm, but he is accurate, and in this scheme, that is the most important trait for the quarterback to have.
