Eagles’ Jalen Hurts Provides Massive Injury Update

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurt has been playing at a very high level again in the 2023 season. The 2022 MVP runner-up has taken his production to another level, placing himself right in the discussion for the award again.

Impressively, he has reached that point without even being fully healthy. Hurts has been dealing with a nagging knee injury that has required him to wear a sleeve during practice and games. While he hasn’t missed any of the Eagles’ games this season, it was still a cause for concern.

Alas, that concern is seemingly gone. According to Brooks Kubena of The Athletic on X, formerly known as Twitter, he revealed that Hurts is no longer wearing the sleeve. “Everything is trending forward,” said Hurts, via Kubena.

That is excellent news for the Eagles, who are in the driver’s seat not only for the NFC East title but the No. 1 seed in the conference. At 8-1, they have a one-game lead over the Detroit Lions for first place and a two-game lead over the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional race.

With plenty of season remaining for that to change, knowing Hurts is moving closer and closer to being 100 percent healthy is great news. We saw just how detrimental it can be when he is out of the Eagles lineup in 2022.

He missed two games near the end of the season, against the Cowboys and New Orleans Saints, which the Eagles lost both of with Gardner Minshew starting. That is a situation they would like to avoid this season, as turning to backup Marcus Mariota to start games would be less than ideal.

On the season, Hurts has completed 68.9 percent of his passes and is averaging 260.8 yards per game, both career highs. While his turnover numbers are a bit concerning, as he has eight interceptions on the season, he is on track to set a record for passing touchdowns as he has 15 thus far.
