Former NFL veteran receiver and ESPN analyst Harry Douglas offered his two cents on the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes, which will involve the 39-year-old quarterback making his decision of what his next move will be. Whether that be to stay in Green Bay, finish out his career with another team, or retire, remains to be seen.
“Aaron Rodgers might stay in Green Bay just because he knows he can get away with what he’s doing in Green Bay,” Douglas said on Wednesday on ESPN Radio.
What Exactly Does This Mean For Aaron Rodgers And The Packers?
Douglas is insinuating that Aaron Rodgers knows how much he means to the fans and the history of the Packers organization, that he has the ability to take advantage of the franchise by asking for more money than he is valued for — and then blame the team for the lack of help.
This irony is now typical for the Packers. Yet, they have been nothing but bought into Rodgers’ progression and suggestions by re-signing him and trading for his former teammate Randall Cobb, which Rodgers again left the team without a trace when the team failed to make the playoffs.

This is not the first time Rodgers has left Green Bay to hold out and explore his options, as last year saw him wait until March 15th to re-sign with the Packers for three years and $150 million.
Will the Packers bite the bullet and pay Rodgers despite his mysterious persona, or will they move from their signal-caller of 18 years, giving the reigns to third-year backup Jordan Love?
Ultimately, Aaron Rodgers controls his own destiny for 2023, with the top-three projections currently being him resigning, getting traded to the New York Jets, and being traded to the Las Vegas Raiders. This is due to all three teams being only one quarterback away from being a playoff contender and having the cap space to afford the aging quarterback.
