Intangibles Cannot Be Taught

AJ Terrell is tall, and he is fast. Those are things that cannot be taught no matter how much you try. Terrell is an excellent choice for the Falcons because he already possesses these physical gifts.

Cornerback is an extremely hard position to adapt to the speed of the NFL in a player’s rookie year but being just as big and fast as the NFL wide receivers will surely help.

Atlanta figures that they can teach better consistency when tackling or playing balls in the air. Height and speed are not so transferable. Terrell has some issues that have been well documented, however, if he doesn’t play in the National Championship game, they are not discussed nearly as often as his strengths.

When it comes down to it, Atlanta desperately needed a cornerback who has the ability and potential to stop the potent arms of the NFC South. Terrell was widely considered the best cornerback at the time he was taken and is a good prospect. Terrell will need to work on consistency, but he has the ability to be among the best cornerbacks taken in the draft.
