Ryan Tannehill, Titans
Ryan Tannehill looked to be a Fantasy Football superstar through the first two weeks of the 2020 season, scoring a combined 58.12 points. Fantasy owners who surmised those performances were outliers were ultimately proven right as the Titans quarterback came back down to earth in Week 3 with 12.24 points against an admittedly soft Vikings defense.
Odds are that he would have ran into similar struggles against Pittsburgh had their game not been postponed due a COVID-19 outbreak within the Titans organization, so fantasy owners are probably more willing to start him in Week 5 than they would have been had that game proceeded as scheduled.
However, we would err on the side of caution here. Tannehill’s happy medium likely lies somewhere between 29.06 and 12.24 points, but we would bet on him coming closer to the latter than the former in Week 5 versus Buffalo, whose defense has way too much talent to keep conceding as many points as it is.
Their bounce back showing could come against a Titans team who might still be rattled from the coronavirus running rampant through their locker room. Not to mention that some of their players could face discipline from the NFL for potentially violating safety protocols.
In sum, we wouldn’t feel confident starting any Titans player besides Derrick Henry. Tannehill would be an extremely risky play even though byes start this week in fantasy land.
