Fantasy Football: 3 very risky quarterback plays in Week 8

As we approach Week 8 of the NFL season, Fantasy Football owners may be active on the waiver wire for a quarterback. For starters, your quarterback may be on a bye week. Those on a bye this week are the Arizona Cardinals (Kyler Murray), Washington Football Team (Kyle Allen), Jacksonville Jaguars (Gardner Minshew), and the Houston Texans (Deshaun Watson).

Secondly, you may just flat out be disappointed with your current starter. That, or you feel your quarterback is in a tough matchup this week. For example, you could have Nick Foles, Sam Darnold, or Drew Lock in your starting lineup. Fantasy Football owners have been cleaning the waiver wire looking for Justin Herbert or Joe Burrow or in some cases, Derek Carr.

Regardless, I am here to tell you three risky quarterback starts this week. If you have them on your team, you may want to bench them. If you see them on the waiver wire and currently have a claim on them, you may want to cancel.

Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are 5-2 led by third-year quarterback Josh Allen. Early on in the year, Allen was in the MVP conversation until they dropped back to back losses to the Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs.

This week, the Buffalo Bills will be facing the New England Patriots. In his career against the Patriots, Allen is 0-3.

Everything about this matchup is spelling disaster. In his career against New England, Allen has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns. This week, he be will facing a New England team that just got embarrassed on national television against the San Francisco 49ers.

Neither team will dominant in this one as I am expecting a closely contested game. Fantasy Football owners, stay away from Josh Allen this week.

Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers’ quarterback is available in most leagues, as he was hurt early on in this season. But, when he has played, his Fantasy Football numbers aren’t the greatest. Just two weeks ago against the Miami Dolphins, Garoppolo got benched. He bounced back nicely versus the Rams, throwing for three touchdowns. But, I do not trust him this week.

His matchup is enticing as he will be facing the Seattle Seahawks, who have the worst passing defense in the league. But, remember this about Jimmy G.

Last week against the Patriots, they scored 33 points and he threw for no touchdowns and two interceptions. They were put in great field position because of the four turnovers the defense created. Keep in mind, Russell Wilson rarely turns the ball over.

Daniel Jones, New York Giants

Daniel Jones is coming off of his best game of the year in Week 7 versus the Philadelphia Eagles. Jones would have had the play of the night if he didn’t slip on his 60-yard run.

While Jones has shown growth over the season, he is not ready for this Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense. In the past two weeks, the Buccaneers defense shut down both Aaron Rodgers and Derek Carr.

This week, they will be sending the house against the Giants. It is no secret that rookie tackle Andrew Thomas is struggling. It is also no secret that DC Todd Bowles likes to blitz. The Buccaneers have a top three defense.

With no Saquon, I do not like the run game to be successful. I also do not like the outside matchups that Slayton and Tate will be facing. Shepard is back, but the Bucs defense will be too much.

Fantasy Football owners, stay away from Danny Dimes this week.
