No. 1: Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger
I was burned not just by the Chargers D/ST in Week 1, but also by Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, whose three interceptions and two fumbles against the Browns made me wish I had started the San Francisco 49ers’ Jimmy Garoppolo instead.
Well, not really. Garoppolo’s line was equally as terrible.
At any rate, Big Ben was awful in his 2018 debut. And in eight- or 10-team leagues, you might be pressed into considering your bench option for quarterback heading into Week 2. Especially if you’re looking at what, let’s say, the New York Jets’ Sam Darnold did to the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football.
Don’t. Keep Roethlisberger in your active lineup.
The Steelers take on the Chiefs in Week 2, meaning Roethlisberger will be working against a defensive unit that allowed the Chargers’ Philip Rivers to toss for 424 yards and three touchdowns in Week 1. And with safety Eric Berry still nursing a heel injury, Kansas City could still be susceptible to some big plays from Big Ben through the air.
Roethlisberger should have a nice bounce-back performance in Week 2.
