Fantasy Football outlook for Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb in 2020

With the losses of wide receiver Randall Cobb and tight end Jason Witten in free agency, the Cowboys are losing 166 targets from last year. That’s a 28.8 percent target share, gone.

Blake Jarwin had 31 catches on 41 targets in 2019, and he’s in line for a solid chunk more this year as the clear No. 1 tight end. But there’s still a good chunk of targets available, and Lamb should step into something comparable to Cobb’s role from last year.

At their peak, Mike McCarthy’s offenses in Green Bay supported three viable fantasy commodities at wide receiver. Cooper, Gallup and Lamb can replicate that in McCarthy’s first year as Cowboys’ head coach.

Cobb had 55 catches for 828 yards and three touchdowns last year. In full-point PPR, he finished as WR44. Lamb is a more dynamic talent, so it’s not unrealistic to think he’ll surpass Cobb’s 2019 numbers as the Cowboys’ No. 3 wide receiver this year.

Assuming the 30-target gap between Gallup and Cobb last year is narrowed this year with Lamb taking Cobb’s place, Gallup comes out of as one of the biggest fantasy football losers after the draft.

As for Lamb himself, he’s looking like no more a WR3/WR4 for fantasy purposes as a rookie. The betting over-unders for him currently sit at 799.5 for receiving yards and 4.5 for touchdowns.

CeeDee Lamb 2020 Projection: 56 receptions for 820 yards, 5 TD
