Fantasy Football: Position-by-Position Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Picks for Week 3

TEs to start in Week 3

Dolphins’ Mike Gesicki (vs. Jaguars): After having a quiet outing in Week 1, Mike Gesicki had a dominant performance for the Dolphins in Week 2. As he operated more snaps out of the slot, Gesicki commanded an impressive 23 percent target share in Miami’s offense in Week 2, catching eight of his 11 targets for 130 yards and a touchdown.

Following his stellar output against a stingy Buffalo Bills secondary, Gesicki will get an opportunity to face Jacksonville’s new-look defense. In the first two weeks of the season, the Jaguars have surrendered 198 receiving yards (most in the NFL) and 22.4 fantasy points (third-most in the NFL) to opposing TEs.

Browns’ Austin Hooper (vs. Washington): There’s no denying the fact that it’s been a disappointing start to the season for Austin Hooper in his first two games with the Cleveland Browns. After getting a four-year, $42 million deal in the offseason, Hooper has caught just four passes for 37 yards in the first two weeks.

David Njoku, who the Browns placed on IR after Week 1, has outscored Hooper by 6.3 fantasy points. While it has been tough to stomach Hooper’s lack of involvement in Cleveland’s offense thus far, he gets a chance to redeem himself against the Washington Football Team, who don’t exactly have a fearful secondary.

Other TEs to consider in Week 3: Washington’s Logan Thomas (vs. Browns), Mo Alie-Cox (if Jack Doyle is out vs. Jets)

TEs to sit in Week 3

Jets’ Chris Herndon (vs. Colts): It’s hard to find an offense that has the lack of offensive firepower that the New York Jets. Even if Jamison Crowder returns in Week 3, Darnold’s wide receivers besides Crowder are Chris Hogan, Braxton Berrios, and Josh Malone.

Just looking at the roster, you would think that Chris Herndon would be featured heavily as a receiving threat. One thing we all failed to consider was that Adam Gase is the head coach of the Jets. Herndon has seen 11 targets, catching seven of them for only 42 yards. Regardless of whether or not Herndon could be a talented weapon in the NFL if he were to get more opportunities, he draws a Colts defense that has given up only three receptions for 11 yards to TEs this season.

Steelers’ Eric Ebron (vs. Texans): Throughout the year, Ben Roethlisberger has typically liked to have a reliable tight end involved in the offense. During the offseason, the Steelers brought in Eric Ebron in hopes he could give them another wrinkle in their passing attack.

Though, the former first-round pick has managed to total only four receptions for 61 yards so far this season. And with Pittsburgh’s offense loaded with talent at wide receiver, Ebron figures to be an inconsistent option in fantasy football. Barring an injury to JuJu Smith-Schuster, Diontae Johnson, or Chase Claypool, Ebron is better off warming your bench right now.
